Sherene Azli spearheads the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC), an agency under the Ministry of Health Malaysia as its Chief Executive Officer. She has been entrusted with the task of positioning Malaysia as the “preferred destination for world-class healthcare services” and hence plays and instrumental role in promoting global awareness of the Malaysian healthcare industry.

Prior to joining MHTC, she led the Malaysian Diaspora Outreach team at TalentCorp and was responsible for fronting engagements with Malaysian students and professionals in building networks of Malaysian talents globally.

Sherene also brings with her an extensive 16 years of experience in the strategic and business development capacities where she served as the Vice President of Strategy & Business Development at Telekom Malaysia (TM). Her early working stint in this industry began when she functioned as a Research Manager at the Irish Telecommunications Investment plc, Dublin.

Upon her return to Malaysia, she embarked her career in TM as a Financial Analyst and later moved on to contributing in several key areas of expertise encompassing Pricing Strategy, Market Development & Research, Customer Loyalty & Retention, Customer Relationship Management, Cost Management and Global Business. In February 2009, Sherene was appointed as the Vice President of Group Marketing TM.

Sherene holds a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Durham, United Kingdom and a Bachelor of Business Studies (Hons) in Accounting & Finance from the University of Limerick, Republic of Ireland. She is a dynamic and ardent believer in giving her best to fulfil the country’s national agenda whilst at the same time balancing her career as a wife and mother of two kids.
