It’s crunch time again
~ 15 coveted titles up for grabs at the 2007 Frost & Sullivan Malaysia Telecoms Awards ~

Kuala Lumpur, May 8, 2007 -- The 2007 Frost & Sullivan Malaysia Telecoms Awards will see the nation’s finest telecommunications and ICT (information and communications technology) companies vie for 15 hotly contested titles in the ICT industry. Held for the third consecutive year, the awards seek to recognize outstanding performance and industry achievements by companies in the field of telecommunications/ICT in Malaysia for financial year 2006, many of which are homegrown companies.

The awards will held on Thursday, May 24, 2007, at the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur, and will be officiated by the Deputy Minister of Energy, Water and Communications, YB Dato’ Shaziman Abu Mansor.

“2006 has been an outstanding year for Malaysian telecom companies. The high intensity of competition has helped usher strong growth in the local industry. Importantly, it has helped Malaysian companies compete effectively and grow their businesses in the global market. Several local companies are now strong regional players. The global industry is closely watching and learning from the best practices of these companies,” says Manoj Menon, partner at global growth consulting company, Frost & Sullivan.

Some of the recipients of the 2006 awards who will be defending their titles this year are Maxis, TM (Telekom Malaysia Berhad), DiGi, SCAN Associates, AKN Messaging Technologies, TM Net and VSource.

“The Malaysian industry is also doing very well on the innovation front. The industry development policies by the government as well as access to capital markets have helped in the establishment and growth of companies in the areas of mobile content, call center outsourcing, security, IP telephony and managed services. These segments represent the next wave of growth opportunities in the region and the industry is in a good position to capitalize on them,” adds Menon.
